Have you ever had a craving to do something daft? I often get those thoughts. Here's my latest - A car on eBay. But this is no ordinary car (although at one time it was common as muck!) - A 1973 MK.III Ford Cortina! This one's for sale on eBay, and is up Yorkshire. I love the chrome, Brown paint (yes - brown paint!!), vinyl seats, boomerang steering wheel, and walnut sticky-back plastic on the dashboard. What pure nostalgia to anyone who was a child of the 70's - WHAT A CAR!!!! Am I going mad, but don't you agree - isn't this a sexy vehicle! Two of my uncles had Cortina's, and I suppose they've now come to epitomise the very essence of the 1970's. I've been thinking about getting a Cortina (as a second car) for a while now. I'll have to see if I'm still as keen in a few months time, when I clear the garage out. If so, I'm seriously thinking about getting one. Possibly a MK.III Cortina Estate. But they're now getting quite rare.

I couldn't get a link activated, so have put up the photos. I never had a Cortina. My first car was an Escort Mk.II Estate (a nice car, which was a joy to drive) and a 1976 Ford Capri (which I found was very over-rated, and horrible to drive!).

Cool car Johnny - are you bidding on it? When Julian and I got married our wedding car was an old Granada, same shade of brown at this Cortina

No, I didn't bid on it. I would still love one though. But when the world of reality is taken into consideration, it will have to remain on hold until I have more space in which to put it. My existing car hasn't even been in our garage for the past two years (due to the amount of junk in there), so there's unfortunately little chance of us accomodating a Cortina at the moment!

Sarah-Jayne's post got me thinking when she said about her silver cars as the majority of cars Julian and I have owned seem to be red (14 cars, 9 of which were red) We dont chose the colour as we've never bought a new car! Is it just the way it's turned out or is it because there happens to be more red cars on the road therefore increasing the chances of us buying a red one?? Has this happened to anyone else?

Well I reckon the red car thing could be right, although I think nowdays silver seems to be the colour of choice!
I've had seven cars in nearly 9 years and they were:
Micra - Black Volvo 340 - Blue Renault 5 - Silver Escort - Red Metro - Blue Corolla - Red Astra - Green
Bit of a mixed bunch there but still 2 red cars!!!

[/IMG] SJx
You say that, I for some reason still have the number plate off my last car: K576 GVG, I loved that Red Corolla! I sold it to my friend and he soooo don't look after it like I did, sometimes I even think about trying to buy it back off him!... I miss my Corolla! My Corolla, looking a bit dirty and pre-alloy wheels!! Not so flashey with my new car... it's more of a family car.... for me and Benny!

[/IMG] SJx
Aww Sarah-Jayne, that is so sweet! Do you give your cars names? We (I) used to but dont really bother now, although a few of my pupils named my tuition car 'Bessie' which I thought was sweet! A few of our cars were: A Mini named Malibu A Metro, reg A314 JEX - named Ajex for some strange reason.. Skoda reg ending YWB - we called her the Yorkshire Wonder Baby We also had a VW Vento reg L943 SVG, and then bought a VW Passat reg L917 SVG, so that was funny having them both on the drive together for a while But our 'claim to fame' is owning a Skoda Rapid convertible - reg F911 OLY - this actual car appeared on the front cover of What Car magazine ..This was also the only car which we have so far needed the services of a very nice AA man
