Hi everyone,
I reccently learned of your group from a kind lady wanting to join PRO-GALGO.
I have 5 dogs at the moment.
RUBY: a 4 year old salukiX that we have for about a year and a half, shes our princess but dont fall for the butter wouldnt melt look, she can be a right little madam. She was kept in a yard all her life and used for breeding and had no clue how to interact with people when we adopted her. Now she just loves to run and run, and is the most gentle girl in the world.
PIP: an almost 4 year old black irish ex-racer thatraced in Swindon and was then dumped on a farmer in bath, the owners asked him to "DISPOSE" of her, but luckily he wouldnt and put her in the free-ads. We had to pretend to be hound novices and got her for just £40!! Needless to say she was in a pretty bad state when we picked her up about 6 months ago. Shes a true black beauty now.
CAUCHY: a white greyhound, he's a year old now and we adopted him at 13 weeks old. Him and his 2 siblings were off to the vets a week before to be PTS, a result of racing litter thinning out. . Hes eaten half our sofa but is (hopefully) growing out of his naughty phase now.
TILLY and MILO: a 12 year old black pug girl and 7 year old black pug boy. They rule the roost. Milo and Cauchy are best friends and are always found cuddling up together. Milo also thinks Ruby is "his girl" and will attempt to chase off any boys that take a fancy to her.
Our soon to be 6th dog is LUZ. A galgo girl (galga) that we are adopting from PRO-GALGO. I set up PRO-GALGO UK a few months ago and with a few friends we are launching it as a proper charity in the next month. Please take a look at my website www.progalgoenglish.wordpress.com
there are some videos to watch (bit upsetting so be warned) and a petition to sign
LUZ is about 4-5 years old and after having her last litter was tied up at the shelter with severe mammary infections and no puppies in sight
Shes in foster getting through her quarantine now.
I also volunteer for GLWR www.glwr.org.uk where we adopted Cauchy from.
PRO-GALGO have a rare Canarian Podenco girl called POCA who is also in quarantine waiting to come to the UK in June, but has no home offer so far. Please consider her if you are looking for a new CAT-FRIENDLY hound.
Will post some pics soon
