toms been chopping firewood today for an elderly man we befriend but he said every time he turned his back poppy was picking some up and taking it to the top of the garden thats the first time shes done anything like that with him shes also wagging her tail at the same time as barking at him when he gets in from work i think at last she is getting used to him and begining to trust him

Our two are like that as well. In the summer we cut a large bush back, and Star & Sugar just loved chewing on the branches, and dragging them all around the garden!

for the last two days poppy and myself have had some really enjoyable walks i take her to the same place all the time and she is getting to know the area and seems to be relaxing she gets out of the car herself where as a few weeks back we were having to lift her out and then it was a job to get her to walk she would just freeze , the last few days she trotted round with me head up and taking everything in its lovely to see her im so proud of her , shes still not happy if any one comes near but we can work on that as she gets more confident

Ive found the same thing a walk is generally that now Infact the problem I had at the weekend was that Juno the mouse of the house was getting over excited and barrking in other dogs faces! This was when she was off the lead and trying to entice them to play. We had a hairy moment with a lady who got into a bit of a flap. Which was strange because we had met before and the dogs had gotten on really well. I think the muzzles worry people, but later met up with a couple of other owners who were lovely. There was a boxer a beardie cross a jack russel and my two having a whale of a time. The Jack russel was most defiantly the boss! What I find fascinating and I know this is not uncommon is that Juno who is most defiantly the submissive one of my two can be so much more confident with other dogs and will bound up to dogs who I least expect her to. The liver cake was a huge success and after mocking your partner my children tried it. Which was a surprise because I really thought liver would be one thing they wouldnt try. Niall said "Its not the nicest thing youve ever made but its alright" a complement indeed from an 12 year old!

glad every one enjoyed the liver cake . i had a hairy moment yesterday with poppy we went to our usual haunt and when we got there , there were two coaches on the car park but i didnt think much of it as the car park is shared between the castle and a lesuire centre so out we got and of we whent across the field , and what looked like about three hundred children apeared coming towards us poor poppy whent into trauma mode she froze the only movement being the shaking , i managed to get her back to the car before they caught up with us she crouched in the back of the car peeping over the back seat as they all filed passed to get on the couches , it was obviously a school trip after they had gone i tried to get her to get out again but she was having none of it , and it was begining to rain so we came home .i had to smile at her today , when i go to work i leave her in the kitchen with the door open so she can go in the garden , my kitchen has a tiled floor so i dont like her bed to be on it as the cold rises so i got a z bed a nd a thick foam mattress for her which we put up at night and fold away in the morning unless im at work then i leave it for her to lie on while im away it is quit high and as i got in the car to go to work this morning i happened to glance up and shes on the bed with her front paws on the work surface looking out at me

Juno had to go for the second of her jabs this morning.. this is the fifth time shes been in as many weeks. Everytime weve been weve got in to the waiting room relatively easily but when it come to going into the procedure room its been brakes on completely.. Ive had to carry her in.. Ive had Lexy with me twice thinking it would help.. Lexy being the brave and adventurous one that Juno would follow her. Last time she freaked out too! I had to give her to the vet while I carried Juno. Today we went en mass.. Me.. partner Chris who had thrown a sickie.. 12 year old son also off school.. Lexy and Juno. The whole pack I sent the boys in first we sat down in the waiting room had some livercake were called and I could have eaten my hat.. Juno trotted straight in!! They never cease to surprise me.. Hope it went ok xx

well i think the vet must have thought me mad i warned in advance when booking the appointment that she was very nervous they were very good and fitted me in when they said it would be quiet which it was in we whent and the vet called us through in poppy trotted and sat down [ the vet was lovely he had a nice soft gentle irish accent and im sure that helped ] he spoke to poppy petted her listened to her heart and then gave the dreaded injection she didnt feel anything when we came out into the waiting area there were a number of people waiting she trotted passed them all with her head held high , i looked at the vet and said honestly she is nervous he just laughed , but said maybe instead of trying to get her to go on walks maybe a visit to the vet might be more enjoyable for her

Your both doing brilliantlly. I thought Juno had mastered the walk, weve had weeks of perfection and then yesterday morning brakes suddenly went on again. She wouldnt shift in a particular direction, it was hugely frustrating for me I think although im not certain its because there were some workmen drilling or sawing further down the road, still like you say when you remember how far youve/theyve come...and weve had Lexy for over a year now but she is still somewhat of a work in progress If you ever need reminding of the fantastic job you are doing google the Shelter Dog By Evelyn Colbath. (and regarding progress I didnt expect to have to muzzle Lexy for 3 months when we got her a friend but its off now for most of the time at least!) x

another break through with poppy every night since i got her she has weed on her bed , but touch wood she has been clean for almost two weeks i think maybe it was a nervous problem so is this telling me she is at last feeling safe and settled with us she even lets me know when she needs to go out during the day by running from me to the door and back again
