Here goes.
We haven't been on here for a while.
I am having to re-home one of my greyhounds, we took him on about 8 months ago as a 3 year old dog that didn't take to racing as he was the runt of a litter and was hand fed. He is a Brindle and white dog (male) called Billy.
At the moment he lives in a family environment with 2 kids (11 and 9 (but the nine year old is mentally disabled with the age of a 5 year old)) my wife and myself.
When I took billy on I was a stay at home dad parent but have just been offered and started a job many, many miles from home that in todays economic environment to turn away and it is not working out.
Billy is a very lively happy dog who needs exercise I cannot give him - although its only 30 mins 3 times a day (he will walk for hours and hours and hours if you want to) i just don't have the time to do this now and it is not fair on him at all.
He is Mr relaxed in the house, he will take up all your sofa given the chance and lets my daughter dress him up and wear clothes, hats and toy sunglasses. Loves to play fetch and is such a joy to have as a family member.
He is the perfect dog, that's what is breaking our hearts, if it wasn't for this job then he would be here till the end of his days.
Because we care for him so much, we will want to see your house, and also your name and address will be passed on to the retired Greyhound people so you take total ownership of him and they know where to find you if they want to check up on him. Also if he escapes he is tattooed in his ear so the rspca knows where he should be.
He comes fully vaccinated, wormed, frontline flead, also with a walking harness as he is a strong dog, food bowl, lead and bedding.
As i said this is a sad situation as he is mate for our elderly greyhound who is housebound because of old age and ill health and won't leave the house anymore.
If anyone can help find him a home we would be really appreciative, even if it is a short term stop over as he really does deserve more than we can give him at present. I have contacted the kennel where we got him from to be told that "sorry we have no room at the moment, and this is the guy that bred him".
If you want to know more please, please, please get in touch. I am more than happy to bring him over to you or meet in a nice park or you can come to us. Please give this handsome guy a chance that we can't give him anymore.
