mmm where do i begin ? well tina and me are pretty annoyed at the moment as we have had a phone call thursday nite from annie at action for greyhounds.not unusual as she calls to see how rocco is doing now and then.but this time it was about rocco and that she had seen someone from the gery club who said rocco was under weight and did not look in the best of health.we now have annie coming here monday as a follow up to see if rocco is not being looked after ! as all of u, who know us quite well, will i hope, verify that rocco and sheya are VERY well looked after and to be honest i cannot see much ,if any differance from how he is now ,from when we got him. tina was so worried she booked an appointment today for the vets to get rocco checked out ,just in case we were missing something? needless to say apart from the moulting, rocco got a clean bill of health now i dont mind annie coming here to see rocco but wot i find quite amazing is that the person who said this (a man with no name? believe me i did ask annie ) did not speak to me or tina to ask why rocco a/might have lost weight b/was not in the best of health before worrying annie and us over wot i think is nothing . see link to lurcher link and see rocco in foster and onwards to see he looks no different www.lurcher.org/llink/forum/viewtopic.php?t=18655so just to say please think before u say things about members dogs .there could be a reason for dogs not looking great remember we have had rocco for a short time and he is still settling in sorry for the long post but we are still very upset thanks for your time steve n tina and james ps will let u know how visit goes monday

I saw rocco on LL when the first post was made in the homeless hounds and thought he was gorgeous - I can understand your annoyance, lots of animals lose a bit when unsettled and it was wrong for someone to go behind your back

so just to say please think before u say things about members dogs .there could be a reason for dogs not looking great remember we have had rocco for a short time and he is still settling in sorry for the long post but we are still very upset thanks for your time steve n tina and james ps will let u know how visit goes monday CHAIRMAN'S COMMENT: I am concerned about this matter in that it's obviously caused some upset to some highly valued club members. Most of us know Steve, Tina & James very well. They are dedicated members, and attend (probably) all events. As Chairman, I am honoured to represent such people, who are some of the nicest, kindest, most caring individuals that I know. Everyone who knows them would know only too well - that if they were concerned about the health of their dog, all they have to do is ask, and they would be more than willing to listen to any concerns. This is what I would have expected to happen. Bearing in mind what I've just stated above - which is the commonsense approach, I would also like to point out the following from Section 3, Paragraph 3, from the club's rule book: "iii. Responsibility of Members – Members will act in a responsible manner, and not bring the club into disrepute, both from within the club membership, or with outside people or organisations. If members do have a problem with a fellow member or outside organisation, and feel that the matter is causing a problem either within the club, or is bringing it’s reputation into disrepute - then they should bring this to the attention of the Committee at the earliest occasion." I think that's pretty clear. Now, I don't personally think there is anyone in the club who would intentionally go out to do this, but I thought as Chairman, it was my duty to clarify this. So, in future - If anyone is concerned about another member's dog, please go up and kindly ask them about it. If any member deliberately goes behind someone else's back, with the express intention of causing trouble, or bringing the club into disrepute - the Committee will reserve the right to either warn or expel such member. I remain convinced however, that there's nobody in the club at present who is like that. The Committee will not tolerate behaviour like that. It is counterproductive, and we will not allow any one member to upset what is (in my humble opinion) one of the finest and friendliest clubs in the region!

Let's just hope that in future these sensitive issues will be dealt with in a more appropriate manner !!! IMO there was no need to mention what someone 'might've' said but to just go along to do a routine follow up of the adopted dog !! Therefore no-one needs to get upset and the rescue would've clearly seen for themselves (either way) All Greyhound and Whippet owners should know that these dogs are Athletes...Running dogs and should be kept on the lean side. Nothing worse than seeing a fat one of either So glad that all is well with Rocco,,He's a beautiful boy Hope to see you soon, Tracey X

This topic has now been well aired, and both Stuart an I see no reason for it's continuance. We have therefore placed a lock on the topic. As Chairman, I have had received no evidence to date, that any member of this club has broken club rules, or deliberately gone out to cause offence or hurt the feelings of any other member. If however, anyone has any details to the contrary, then please inform me.
