Hi We adopted a male greyhound last year who has been an absolute star, no problems and absolutely adorable. We have kids and cats and they all get on fine. To be honest he was a little boring to start with, with hindsight I think he may have been depressed. He's now come out of his shell, he's really affectionate and playful. I often wonder about whether or not we should consider a canine companion for our boy as we both work. I'm fairly sure he sleeps most of the day but I don't want to upset him as he's obviously starting to settle. Any thoughts on this would be much appreciated such as suitable time scales, sex of another dog etc Many thanks in advance.

Hi Emma, and welcome to the boards. We are strong advocates of two dogs. We had a whippet for a year, and then took on "Sugar". Both dogs are neutered, so there's no worry from that aspect. We find that having two dogs is really important for one another. It's important for a dog to know that there's another of the same species with them. Our two have many "ups and downs" and squabble from time to time, but I think the interaction between the two is stimulating, and enjoyable for both. From that regard, we would always recommend two gerys! - Johnny & Kitty.
