I've just been thinking about "fundraising", and what exactly that might mean when the club becomes established. As I see it, there will essentially be two areas of fundraising:
1. For club funds 2. For charity
CLUB FUNDS: Money for club funds can be raised by having raffles, selling cups of tea, and eventually developing a club shop.
CHARITY FUNDRAISING: Can be done by staging a 50/50 auction, Bring-and-Buy sale, or sponsored events (dog walks or fun dog shows etc).
Does anyone else have any ideas?

I cant believe i'm gonna say this.... I think a sponsered walk would be an excellent idea, we could get ourselves seen maybe try for a bit of publicity in a local paper... more importantly I could start to get fit! ;D

Sometimes in town you get organisations who set up a stall full of info and stuff like that. I don't know if we could do it, or how we could but would that be an idea for us??? You know what i mean?? We could have a news letter... about us/ and what charities we support (information about our message board ;D). Info about gery's, why they make such great pets. Stuff on health issues as well. Once we have some funds we could maybe have afew things to sell, Maybe we could take donations for us and/or one of the causes we are supporting? We could take a couple of gery's along as well. If we could do some thing like that there are probably a dozen things we could do with the idea. It could also be a good way of getting more people intersted in joing the club? But I don't know if you have to be a charity or something to do stuff like that???

This is a good idea Sarah, and I'm sure that the Pets-at-Home supermarkets would allow us to do that inside or outside their stores in Norwich. I have put this on the Committes's Agenda, and we'll discuss it further then.

Hi
For club funds you could always have an annual subscription that each member pays, and then once everything is organised you could sell t-shirts, car stickers etc with the club logo on.

Franky Yes, this is what is being planned. The annual subscription is most probably going to be £6.00 per year per person, or £7.50 for a "family" membership. A club logo would be good - perhaps a little job for "Alpha Gery" eh?

Oh boy don't I feel important! ;D Well I think as our baby started all this I think she should remain the face of the club! I'm sure I will come up with a few ideas but suggestions are most definatly welcome. I suppose it depends on the name we finally decide for the club on Saturday...(thats when I think we should decide!)... So if you want to vote make sure your there on Saturday!!!!

Yes, we will decide on a name for the club at the next committee meeting. There's no reason why we can't put down the suggestions and have a vote on the matter. The final decision can be made by the committee, bearing in mind the poll that could be conducted on this site. I personally would like to see dear Sophie remain as the "face of the club", cos she's our favourite Gery!
