The Christmas club night has been pencilled-in for Sunday 4th December, at the White Horse, Trowse, Norwich, from 7pm, and will be confirmed in the newsletter sent out at the end of November. In response to the request from memb.ers - Kitty & I will be arranging a short quiz (with picture quizes) on the night, and we'll bring along our CD player, so we can have a bit of music on. This will be an ideal opportunity for you to invite along friends and family, and it would be great to see as many people as possible. We will collect the £1 per head from memb.ers, as normal, but friends and family will not be expected to pay. Also, everyone can bring along a little something to eat as well (obviously no drinks please - as I don't think the pub will be happy!). What do ya think?

kinda works like this: U get all the GeryNuts names write them down on paper then put them in a hat. then each memeber picks a name but keeps it to them selves. U agree on a set amount that everyone will spend, example £5, or £10. then at the pub night, each member will give all the gifts to u or something and then they would be handed out. The idea is that u don't know who has brought u the present

Oh Johnny - we were discussing it at the pub on the last club night, however I'll let you off as you were busy booking the room etc - I thought you'd heard it. Sarah has it right - but there's another way to do it instead of picking out a name, as that gets confusing and people invariably get missed etc Basically, if you a male - you bring a present that is suitable for a man If you are female - you bring a present for a 'lady' All the presents are labelled 'male' or 'female' and put into Santa's sack - you can be Santa Johnny Then everyone gets a present for their gender and there's always the correct number of presents on the night! I think we said around £5 max, so as not to go over the top. What do u think?

One of the new ladies at the club night suggested we do a Secret Santa for the hounds - but then it was mentioned that Harry gets far too many presents anyway...

I wake up this morning one very disappointed club m.ember. I rem.ember at the last club night there was at least 15 of us there and we all agreed and were very excited about the Christmas party. I for one was really looking to the party hoping to see all those m.embers together and having a good laugh. I was disappointed that Only NINE people turned out and that included myself, Johnny & Kitty. Johnny went to a lot of trouble preparing a quiz for us, he bought in raffle prizes and we all bought in buffet food. I'm glad to say that the people who did turn up made the most of it and we did have a good laugh. But if the people who didn't go could have informed myself or Johnny, then we could have moved the party to Johnny's house and saved ourselves some money. So I would like to say a big thank you to the people who did turn up, maybe next year we will do it at Johnny's house anyway as its not nice to plan a big party and not have many attend.

Hi Guys: I agree with what Stuart's just said. It was a nice opportunity to meet people, but it was a bit "thin on the ground" so to speak. I did receive a couple of telephone messages from ppl who couldn't attend, and I'm aware that some memb.ers had other arrangements at this busy time of year. Now, I'm sorry for getting all soppy on you, and for stating what I think, but I feel I have to make the following comment: We will soon be into the New Year of 2006, and I would like memb.ers to reflect on these facts ............................. In less than 10 months, this club has become established, set out sensible rules and regulations, has participated in many events, raised £800 for charity, had some great laughs, but also had it's ups-and-downs (like any group of people) along the way. There have been times when I could have felt dissapointed about the club, but overall, I haven't let setbacks get me down. This is because as Kitty & I we run our own business - this is very familiar to us as a reality of life! When I look at the key memb.ers of this club, that selflessly dedicate their time to helping keeping it on track, I realise that without this dedicated few - this club would be nothing. We have a great year planned ahead. We have the dog show planned for July - a dog show which is ENTIRELY down to us. We're not going to simply rely on others to do the promotion and the organising for us. We're not going to be bound by others rules, regulations and stipulations - We're going to do it ourselves, and the resulting success will be ours! We are fully capable and able of achieving this, BUT, we must all work together as a team - Yes, just like a top football team (just like Liverpool & Norwich! ) We have an excellent "foundation" for our club to build upon, and our first dog show WILL be a success. It will be a wonderful promotional event for our club, and it will give us a terrifc sense of fulfillment when we achieve this goal. I know we can do it, and I have every faith in not only the present "key" memb.ers of our group - but also in the memb.ers that are yet to join our ranks - for we have so much to offer them as a club. Compared with other organisations and clubs (I could name) - We are a well-run, friendly and good-natured organisation. There's much to look forward to in 2006, and there's much we will have planned - MORE than any other dog club that I'm aware of in East Anglia! We are offering a new kind of dog club - not just one that's based on how "perfect" or nearest to the "standards" of the breed your dog is - but a club that brings together ordinary, everyday owners of greyhounds and whippets, who enjoy meeting one another, and who also enjoy sharing the love they have for the unique individual natures of the dogs. We are more than simply a bunch of greyhound & whippet owners - as we've already seen many genuine friendships naturally form between memb.ers of our club. I've seen memb.ers helping out, and assisting one another in their everyday lives. Not because they "have" to, or feel "obliged" to - but because they WANT to. I find this very humbling, and it makes me feel proud to be part of YOUR club. I hope none of you loses faith in what we can achieve, because I sincerely believe we can make this one of the finest clubs in East Anglia. If I didn't believe that - I wouldn't be putting some £300.00 of my own money on the line - into covering the initial costs of the coming dog show! Have pride in your club - Cos you guys are the best!
