Now, I know this club is non-political, but whatever your political opinion, there's one petition currently running - that I feel is very important to draw your attention to.
It revolves around the question of whether the UK should have a referendum on whether it should remain part of the EU, or to come out, and arrange a free trade agreement with it.
So, is this "political"? Well, technically "yes" and on the other hand "no".
I would say "no" for this simple reason - A subject such as this goes well beyond the normal boundaries of politics - to the very foundations of democracy, and our nation's basic beliefs and values.
No matter what way you look at it - the very fact we have not had the opportunity to vote on whether we should be part of an eventual "United States of Europe", is a terrible denial of our democratic rights, and is shameful.
A successful petition would ultimately let the people decide which method of Government should assume ultimate authority over the UK - that of our elected MP's in Parliament in London, or appointed Commissioners that sit in Brussels.
I hope that many people across the land (whether "for" or "against" the EU) will sign the petition. This will allow the people of this country to have a decisive say, on what I believe is the most important issue that faces us today.
It will also allow the outcome to be decided by the fairest method that we have at the moment - through the ballot box in a national referendum.
