Hi Folks! I am a Surrey whippet owner, so hope you don't mind me adding to your site?. Milo is 19 months old and a fawn pedigree whippet with blue mask and very large ears! I've had him since 9 weeks old. Before too long, I want to get him a lady friend ( whippet, greyhound or lurcher) but for friendship, not for puppies as he has been neutered! Milo loves running, like all whippets and enjoys pigs ears, roasted bones and chews. He is inclined to raid the waste paper bins if not watched! :-/If I can work out how, I'll put a pic of him on sometime.
Don't meet many other whippets round here![/color]

Hi TC! Nice to see another new member! Welcome to the Gery Boards! There are a few ladies on here that would be friends with Milo... Sophie for one! She's a right flirt! : : Can I ask how you found us as we like to keep track of what advertising is working? Look forward to seeing a piccy of Milo soon! Stuart aka Alpha Gery!

Thanks Stuart. Like many other whippets and sighthounds, Milo is best with his own shape of dog! He can spot a sighthound a mile off and reacts much better to them than other dogs, though he is always friendly. But he does have one firm lady friend at dog training - a Norfolk terrier called Millie! Milo tends to prefer smaller dogs if not sighthounds. He is not fond of Labs unless they are very calm! I'm sure he'd like Sophie! In fact, we got Milo as a result of walking retired greyhounds but our cat wasn't too keen on them when we tried a home visit or two. We thought a puppy might be more acceptable (hence Milo) but in fact the cat (Moses) doesn't like Milo much either so we keep them apart! Moses is the son of a feral cat and though now a real softie, he can be a bit nervous. As well as these two, we have two gerbils ( Ziggy and Stardust) belonging to my daughter (aged 11) and I have 3 sons of 18, 16 and 12. I found your site through a link from www.fastdogs UK, I think! I am always on the lookout for new whippet sites. I will try the pic later but today, second son, Harry has severe tonsilitis and suspected glandular fever and GCSE's Monday so I have other things on my mind! Will get there eventually. Teresa

May I add a further : : to our boards from Kitty & I. We are the ones with the two whippets called "Star" and "Sugar". Our two are a real couple of little trouble-makers, and "Star" is so clumsy - we're now calling him "SCAR" - as he's now acquired another cut to his head, after running into a fence the other day! : : : : : :

Hi Johnny Your whippets look lovely. How old are they now? Do you find some people ( ) just don't LIKE whippets! I find that - they think they are too skinny! Obviously have poor taste! ;D Milo has a cut healing on his leg at the moment - it hasn't caused any bother but we have no idea how he got it- they do tear so easily don't they? I saw some posts about vet costs - we thought ours was expensive but a friend told me the other main one in Woking is a lot worse and as we have always had a good and friendly service from ours, we will stay where we are. Do you race yours at all? I don't, as Milo is only just 19 months and I think they must be 18 months to race but I did enquire about it. Would be nice to meet other dogs and owners but I would be a bit worried about injuries.

I`ve had a look at your pics of Milo and he`s beautiful, my first dog was a whippet, my grandad bought her for me when i was 8 years old, she was my best mate, i think thats why i went for greyhounds, same shape but a bit bigger but just as soft and whimpish Hope to catch up with you soon Alyson 'n' Hounds

Hi Alyson Love your dog pics. I notice you are from the North - we don't see so many whippets round here but they have a Northern tradition, so maybe there are more owenrs in Lancs? However I did spot a beautiful pair being walked by father and young son this week so hope to bump into them for a chat sometime. Milo would like some whippet friends!

Star is coming up two years old (in Sept), and Sugar is 16 months old. We don't race them as such - we just let them run around the local park - stealing all the kiddies sweets and ice creams! Star took a chunk out of his head recently when we were out walking around Whitlingham Lake. He was chasing Sugar at top speed and didn't see the wire fence! Yes, they do tear easily. They are a real pain sometimes - But we 'em!
