Hiyaz everyone, my name it Katey and I have a 10yr old greyhound called Lenny, I addopted him from Leicester Animal Rescue when he was about 5yrs old, he had been abandoned by gypsies. He's fawn and white (I'll put a pic up soon) and the most amazing charachter, he's just typical greyhound...lazy and loveable! He loves our other dag Harvey (a 1yr old crazy doberman cross...also a rescue dog) and Harvey loves him! I now do volentry aork at Leicester Animal Rescue and it's amazing how long greeyhouns and lurchers are in the centre before being rehomed, it really upsets me, me and Lenny have started a "STOP THE CRUELTY...ADDOPT A GREYHOUND" campaign, I cut up an ond shirt so it fits him and wrote the slogan across it and I hand out leaflets to people, they always seem amazed that greyhounds don't need much exercise and they all seem intrested in what I'm doing, so hopefully something good will come of it! Anyway, I'll shut up now. Katey xxx

Hi Katey! Welcome to the boards! Good to see another new face, and a another geryholic to boot, keep up the good work I agree with everything you said, you only have to look into a gery's eyes to see how special they are... **** WAKE UP ALL YOU NON-GERY OWNERS **** Gerys are good for more than just running after fake rabbits!

Hi Katey welcome to the boards to. yes i agree everyone always asks us when we are out, if our dog Harry needs lots of exercise but we tell them that Gerys are really lazy, dont think they believe us though. we was at a country show last weekend and after 2 hrs of just walking about, we had to go back to the car and have our picnic early, so Harry could have a rest. most breeds of dog would have wanted the picnic, not Harry he laid down and slept for an hr. It took us along time to get around the show for people stopping us and wanting to stroke Harry and talk about him, if everyone who stops us was to get a Gery for themselves there wouldnt be so meny in the kennels. just need to get the message across how brilliant they are.

yeh i know what you meen. Unless they know one, people never understand how great they actually are. I rem.ember when I got Len, we'd never thaught about them before, we went down to the rescue centre after a dog (no spercific breed) and soon as we got there we met and fell in love with Lenny, and that was it!
