On Marine Parade, Gorleston, just north of the Ravine is a railed-in area with gates at 3 corners, so make sure all are shut properly! The western side is hedging and I've recently found a hole has appeared in it, so I have to stand there. It's a big enough grassed area for greys to get up to top speed, so give it a look when you are over that way. Thanks for the advice everyone, I'll have to rope in an unsuspecting volunteer!

Oh dear Sophie did the exact same thing a couple of months ago, it cost us quite a bit but we had insurance so we got it all back except £50. Hope he's ok, we asked them to remove the claw so it didn't happen again (beings as we had already started on the insurance we thought we might aswell get it removed). She's all sorted now! Best wishes to Tel... and your wallet!

Thanks! I must be lucky, Haven Vets on;y billed me £35 and that included antibiotics for a week. Mind, they didnt remove anything - I don't think there was anything left anyway. Tel is a muppet, he didn't even know he'd done it, but boy, did he milk it once he was bandaged!

I bet he did the "I cant even walk on it" thing for a bit didnt he!?
Sophie almost fell over when she first had hers on, she would run around the garden one minute and then be limping around the front room the next!!!

Oh bless him, hope he's feeling better soon. All he needs now is a yellow stripe around his bandage and he'll be well away

Nice to finally meet some of you. I think Tel was a bit bemused by all the Whippets! He was desperate to join in running around, but I didn't dare let him loose.

. Btw has anyone got any good ideas to show people how great Greyhounds really are? The only one I have done so far was when I put an old shirt on Lenny saying "Staop the Cruelty...Adopt A Greyhound" and handed out leaflets I made to people that seemed intrested. I don't think it got us very far though! I don't live in Norfolk but we visit there often and I noticed there was a lot of Greyhounds and Lurchers around, in Leicester (where I live), everyone seems to still think they are agressive dogs that should be constantly muzzled and need hours upon hours of exercise!

A few have appeared on TV - e.g. Neighbours and Heartbeat - and seem to have been shown favourably. That will help to overcome peoples' ignorance about greys. All the leaflets/websites stress the qualities of greys and their undemanding nature, but most people don't see this publicity 'cos some interest or awareness needs to be there before you have the curiosity to look at it. I regularly walk Tel in Yarmouth town centre and we always get the chance to spread the word because people/children always want to stroke him and then they start to ask questions. Perhaps the club could arrange a few of these 'town walks' to help improve sighthound awareness and give advice on how to adopt. Yarmouth Homefinders seems to be doing really well at the moment - every dog advertised in the local paper and on their website seems to be adopted very quickly - but I imagine they would welcome some extra publicity.
