Just thought I would pop along and register and thank Jonny for his phone call yesterday!
My name is Lisa im 33 and from the Midlands and the founder of Greyhound Gap.
Greyhound Gap is a registered charity specialising in the rescue and rehabiliation of death row greyhounds, lurchers and any other sighthounds including more recently lots of whippets!
We will be in attendance by kind invatation at the forth coming dog show being held by Broadland Greyhounds and Whippets. Although sadly I wont be able to make it myself on the day as its too far to travel but sounds a wonderful day!
Myself I am currently owned by four full time hounds with three fosters also in residence!
So here are my hounds.....
Tzar who is a five year old Greyhound/GSD/Collie lad
I actually hand reared him from three hours old and he is my little shadow!
Rodney my 8 year old brindle lad
Rodney came into Gap as one of the most scared and abused hounds we have ever seen. His handling led him to have some less than desirable behaviour mainly attacking other dogs including my own for nothing other than his past. He stayed and after 18 mnths hard work he turned into the sweetest most gentle boy you could wish to meet. Sadly now he is unwell with Cushings Disease and other major things which just doesnt seem fair after how hard he worked to turn himself around.
Sam 3 year old greyhound x saluki lad
Or Samcles as he is now known! The day that my life got tough. Sam landed from the PDSA after being dumped with instructions to pts. I managed to find out his history and he was local to myself I was already aware of him and had been trying to get him safe. He had been kept with an electric shock collar on for months with 13 other dogs barking away prompting him to get zapped even though it had stopped him barking. After 18mnths of begging and pleading some soft sod to adopt him we gave up! He still has more issues than any other dogs ive met, he makes walks a living nightmare but he is safe and as understood as he is going to ever be here
and last but not least the beautiful norty new girl on the Block...
Queen Bea. 4 year old Greyhound Menance!
Queenie was running loose in Stoke for two weeks with us tracking her and after sighting her and a final showdown that nearly gave me a heartattack through lack of oxygen and much amusement of the local firebrigade I caught her! She was just too precious after that performance to move on.
My current Lodgers and looking for a home are ...
Duchess 10 year old Greyhound Saluki cross who had been in another rescues kennels for nearly 2 years with no interest! She is a babe in the house but a demon with anything other than sighthound out and about. Innocent looking eh?
Lottie 3 year old saluki whippet girl and a real minx seen here with Tzar
and latest arrival Henry the cheekiest most playful 4 year old Greyhound you could wish to meet
So that us.... Look forward to chatting to you all!
