IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTThe first BROADLAND GREYHOUND & WHIPPET CLUB DOG SHOW is planned to take place in June 2006, and will be held at National Trust's Sheringham Park, North Norfolk. Kitty & I have been along to meet a lady from the National Trust, which resulted in a very productive discussion. As club chairman, and on behalf of the Committee memb.ers - it gives me immense pleasure in announcing this venture. It gives all the memb.ers of our club the opportunity to really "roll their sleeves up", pool together their skills and resources - to plan and co-ordinate a great show which will be both a credit to ourselves and the National Trust. I know that June 2006 might sound like a long way off, but you'll be surprised how quickly it will be upon us. Obviously, we will be looking for volunteers on the actual day to staff the event, and to offer any additional support to the National Trust if required. I have every confidence in the memb.ers of this club to pull together on this one - and make it a day to rememb.er

Just to explain a bit more about what is envisaged -
The dog show will be a fun ("exemption") event, and will be run along similar lines to the RGT's events.
It is hoped that many other dog and animal related groups will be present, especially from the Norfolk area.
A more detailed meeting and discussion with the National Trust is planned for late September 2005.

Brilliant, we cant wait! These dog shows that mum goes to with Sky all have proper judges from Crufts & they aren't serious shows at all. I dont know how they find them though

Johnny, just wondering how big we're going to make this day and are there any restrictions to what we are allowed to do at Sheringham Park? (having not been there myself obviously - sorry, sore point that!) Can we lay out hands on a sound system/microphone thingy? Are we allowed a beer tent? BBQ? etc And if so, would it be viable? I know where I can lay my hands on a couple of lovely large marquees Just thinking aloud - let me know what you had in mind please

All good points Sara, I think the commitee will be getting together soon so we can discuss what will be happening at the dog show, its a major event and we need to make sure we get it right. I would imagine we would be having an open forum about the show too where all mem.bers will be able to discuss it and help to make this an event not too forget. ... I like the beer tent idea best!

Good oh! - an open forum so I can get my two pennies worth in Julian said we have to find someone with the equipment for a scurry as thet was a big money maker at Mildenhall last week, very popular! If we're not allowed a beer tent Stuart then we'll bring our caravan and stock it with alcohol,

Sounds good too me, I reckon the scurry will be a good idea... although Johnny will spend all his money on it trying to make sure Sugar wins!

If we're not allowed a beer tent Stuart then we'll bring our caravan and stock it with alcohol, One of the shows that mum went to recently had a similar thing to a scurry, it was called a dash and had no obstacles so just a timed run really. The lady running the day said that it was a 'HUGE' money-maker and by far the most money was made on that one thing!

Hopefully, a delegation from the committee will be meeting with the management at Sheringham Park within the next six weeks. The committee will review all the comments made on this board, and we can also bring the subject up at our next club night meeting at the White Horse pub, Trowse - on Monday 10th October.
