I'll try and paste a link to this rare video of the Dar Williams song "As Cool As I Am". As far as I know Dar's only made two official videos to accompany her songs. Dar Williams has for some time now, been one of my favourite singer/songwriters - she's such a breath of fresh air after listening to daytime radio all day! When Kitty and I had the privilege of watching Dar play live at Bedford last year, she played this song as a rock version which sounded just excellent. It's true to Dar's usual form - complete with unconventional lyrics! www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ezK5daabV4PS: How does this come out on your computer screens. it's quite grainy on mine. Is that due to the film quality, or the monitor I'm using?

This is brilliant Jonny, I think we need a conversation about music at some point! I'm a big fan of singer songwriters, and notice you have a picture of Jewel on your posts too. I too like Jewel, although I only have her first few albums.
I'm also in an acoustic covers duo in which I sing and play guitar. Not quite gone into writing our own stuff though!

Aha! - A music fan too. Pleased to see it. Jewel Kilcher and Dar Williams are "Music Goddesses" in our household - even the dogs love them! Well, to be fair - they've been indoctrinated since they were pups. Star especially likes Jewel, and always behaves when we have Jewel albums on. If you have the first two Jewel albums, I would strongly recommend getting "This Way" and "Goodbye Alice in Wonderland" (inexpensively available on eBay). These are superb albums. "0304" is the album in between these, but you will need to be in a very open frame of mind when you listen to that one - as it's very electro-pop influenced. A lot of the American Jewel fans didn't like it, as it was completely unlike material Jewel had done before. I liked the fact that Jewel's always willing to try something different. Not just for "the sake of something different", but because she's really interested in the idea/theme or style. Some of the lyrics on "0304" are excellent (like "J. Lo's big butt is boss, Kate Moss can't find a job", and "The Mayor has no cash, says he spent it on hookers and hash"!). I just love lyrics like that. It brings out Jewel's unique, off-beat sense of dry humour. It's great you're interested in music too. Keep up with the playing in your duo. ROCK ON!

Below is a fan made video to the superb Dar Williams song "Empire", from the album "My Better Self". This song is highly political, and has some very well-written lyrics to it, proving (to me anyway), that Dar's one of the finest songwriters of our time. In America though, Dar's music is probaby not loved that much by Republican supporters of George Bush! PS - When the video ends, wait and see the end credits - very whacky! www.youtube.com/watch?v=VWUOCZFn9ZI
