Just started getting into a band I heard on the tv the other day, Within Temptation (not Johnny's cup of tea i'm sure!) The video of their song The Howling is awesome, i'll make you a CD if you want Johnny!! Does anyone else like them? I've never heard of them, so I can't comment. Is it the sort of music that you hear when "boy racers" whizz by (thump, thump, thump)? Or is it proper music?

Ummm no, not quite! They are a Dutch gothic metal band! Can't image many boy racers playing this out loud on their car sterios! I would though! Here you go Johnny, this is Within Temptation, judge for yourself.... www.youtube.com/watch?v=i5hDEtS_uBcHave a listen to some of the other stuff too! In particular Johnny, you might be inteested in this one.... read the comments underneath the video.... its from the film Serenity! www.youtube.com/watch?v=BkmgsksTT4AAnd not only does lead singer Sharon Den Adel have stunning vioce but she is a very attractive lady too!....

Have seen this band on Scuzz I think, they're quite good, a bit like Nightwish. I am very very very very excited as I'm going to see Chris Cornell at Nottingham Rock City If anyone knows who he is that is.......... SJx

Can't believe someone one else in the club watches Scuzz! When my friends come round they make me turn it over .... so I just don't invite them round anymore! I've heard a bit of Nightwish too, but I definitely prefer Within Temptation, the bloke has a scary voice though!! Sounds like something out of a horror movie! Oh dear Johnny, what you must think of my musical tastes now some of the truth is coming out!!!! I haven't much about that Chris Cornell bloke, but I know he did the Casino Royale Theme! That show be a quiz night question... one point to me!

OMG Chris Cornell is one of the most influential musicians in rock history!!!! And if you ever liked grunge he is technically a rock god!!! He fronted Soundgarden in the 80's and 90's, and then Audioslave until recently. He was part of that huge Seattle scene in the early 90's that produced my absolute favourite artists - ie Soundgarden and Alice in Chains (RIP Layne). Few survived, literally, but Chris has gone on and still producing great records. I saw him at Hyde Park a couple of weeks ago supporting Aerosmith, and he was completed fabulous. There are loads of old vids on you tube for Soundgarden, check them out as they really do ROCK!!! I'm not so in to Scandinavian metaaal but I like pretty much anything on Scuzz. Oh and particularly as I was on there a couple of years back moshing in a video!!! I do like a wide range of music, but metal and grunge are definitely my roots. Ooooooh only 7 weeks til I see Chris Cornell, am most excited!!!!! SJx

Ooops I feel like I have dissed your god! The trouble with me is that my music tastes have changed so dramatically in the last 4 or 5 years, although some has stayed with me. For example, my favorite band EVER 3 Doors Down, I have everything they've done on CD and can't get enough of their music, they've gone a bit quiet over the last couple of years, but word is there is a new album on the way soooon! This is how random my music tastes are... here's what on my current MP3 cd... 3 Doors Down Blue October Kaiser Chiefs Lostprophets Johnny Cash Matchbox 20 My Chemical Romance Within Temptation Dance Selection.... (Mainly to keep my friends from changing the cd!)

Hey, you haven't dissed my rock god, don't worry! No one usually even knows who he is!!! I really like 3 Doors Down, although they're not big over here and don't get much publicity. I also love Matchbox 20, and do a couple of their covers in the band (Push and 3am, although i have jammed a few others). Have seen Lostprophets a few times but unfortunately I think they've gone off the boil a bit and have been over styled as well as over produced. Not so into My Chemical Romance as they grate on me a bit. If you like American stuff then have you heard of Dishwalla? I love them, although it's hard to get their stuff over here. And I never, ever, ever, ever like dance music!!!! Ever! When I had a big party for my 30th I threatened the DJ with near on physical violence if he played any dance. And I said if anyone asked for any dance tracks I wanted to know so I could have "words"! He's a good mate of mine, so he understood!!! SJx

Blimey, I had to actually put a new smilie on the message board when I read your reply and here it is: I can't believe someone else who actually not only knows who 3 Doors Down are, but likes them too!!! The other other people I know that know them are my last two ex-girlfriends (don't know if thats why they are ex's! ) and my best mate.... and they only know them because of having to put up with me playing them in my car!!! Must not forget my Big Little brother who 1st introduced me to their music.... I know what you mean about 3 Doors Down not getting much publicity over here, i'd love to see them Live in concert though, I have their Album Another 700 Miles and thats all Live and they can really sing just as good Live!!! And Matchbox 20 aswell, that's just awesome! I went to a pub the other night and they were doing Kareoke and after I drunk just enough, I made the mistake of trying to sing their song "Bent"... big mistake! Felt rather silly But they didn't have Alice Cooper's Poison, which I don't mean to brag, but I am unbeatable at on Kareoke! I'm having a big 30th party on the 7th of Sept, you'll have to get your DJ friend to do it for me cause I just know its gonna be a cheese fest with the pubs own DJ (Oh new thread to create!!) Mind you I intend on being sooooooo drunk I wont be listening to the music, I hope it don't rain cause i'll be hiding in the beer garden!!

Blimey, that's a bit good!!!
I love acoustic stuff, I really do.
Less than a month until Chris Cornell!!! Wahooot!!
I dreamed that he was singing to me outside my house the other night. Then he came into my kitchen and had a chat, like you do.
Was a nice dream!!!

Glad you liked it SJ that song has held a special place in my heart since I first heard it a few weeks ago, because I first heard it around the same time that my nan past away. I know this may sound a bit sad, but I listen to this song every night at the moment, I probably shouldn't as not sure if it helps or not!! But certainly makes me think! One line in particular is rather thought provoking: "You are not alone in life, although you might think, that you are"!

Awww don't be I know it's hard when you hear a line like that though in a song. When I saw Sarah Reed at Johnny's party she wrote a song about her cat that she lost, and I had to fiddle like mad as I would've lost the plot as it reminded me of my own loss. I know another Gery member was like that too. Songs do get to you, they seem to have a way of saying what we are feeling but can't put into words. I love music for that reason. SJx

Fanks SJ for your kind words! I'm still listening to that song very often! I cant help it, it just has that special something! Here's another line from a song that I thinks quite true: "I am not afraid to keep on living, I am not afraid to walk this world alone". That is so how I feel at the moment. The reason I feel like that is that: Yes I maybe single, but I have a good bunch of friends, some of which I would be totally lost without, I have fun and I know that that special someone will bump into me one day... hopefully not when i'm rat-arsed!! Bonus point if anyone knows the song that line is from...... PS... Johnny, no point even guessing!

Well, I did give that band a listen, and I have to admit - that girl's got a fantastic voice. I don't know if it's really me, but I can see why you like them.
