Our friends Lyz Metcalfe and Keith Hall, of the Hallswood Wildlife Reserve, have just gone online with their website (link below):
www.hallswood.co.uk/
The wonderful work they give to Wildlife, and domestic animals is outstanding, and their tireless efforts on behalf of animals is both very genuine and inspiring.
It is my opinion - that unlike other "big" wildlife charities (especially one I could mention) - they are focussed 100% on supporting the animals they have in their care, and are not obsessed with fancy promotional aspects (expensive logos, offices, and vans etc).
As Chairman of our club, I fully endorse the splendid work that Lyz and Keith do, and can personally think of no better example of how animal charities should develop. I believe they are ahead in this field, and it's perhaps a reflection of this - that they have developed a huge respect from the local community.
Hallswood also have a refreshingly, positive attitude towards the future as well - with an active programme of educating children as to the importance and needs of animals. This has resulted in them having school groups visiting, and with them visiting the children at school. Obviously, it's very important that this work continues, as it's the children who represent the future of this planet, and ultimately it's in their hands how animals fit in with that future.
Hallswood currently have some 300 animals in their care, so they certainly have a full-time job on their hands, 24-7!
I'm sure I speak on behalf of all of us, in wishing them every success with their Wildlife Reserve.
