Jewel Kilcher has just released a double DVD of two concerts she performed in 2006.
I have just managed to acquire these, and for the past two evenings, Kitty, myself, and Star (who's been brought up with Jewel's music since he was a mere pup!), sat there utterly bewitched with the startling performance of this wonderful lady, who (from a very biased viewpoint I hasten to add), I regard as probably the most talented singer-songwriter to have ever come out of America.
And to think....................she's sold over 20 million records, and she's NEVER featured on British radio or TV. What an utterly disgraceful situation!
If you love live music, to the highest standard, then you will love this double DVD, recorded in High Definition. You might have to import it though (via ebay?), as there's not many music stores in the UK who's even heard of Jewel.
Anyway, I've managed to find some clips of these concerts on the Youtube site, and will post the links below.
There's four different clips, and shows Jewel's remarkable abilities.
Please check them out, and confirm whether I'm right or wrong - this lady is absolutely superb!
Below: A song called "Violet Eyes", written as a tribute to one of Jewel's friends who died. It has never appeared on any of her albums, but is one she often plays live. (Warning: it's a potential tear jerker - listening to this might make you blub!). Songwriters just don't write songs like this anymore:

Below: Jewel, singing classical. This shows what a terrfic range and discipline she has in her voice. Quite good for a "folk/pop star" eh? I wonder if Victoria Beckham can better this?:

Below: I couldn't find any clips of Jewel with her band from disc one (perhaps someone will upload some soon?), This is another from disc two, and is Jewel singing solo, my favourite song of hers - "Life Uncommon". OK, I know it's a "hippy", "tree-hugging" type of song, but the words are truly beautiful, and is proof (in my humble opinion) of Jewel's place as one of the very best American singer-songwriters of all time. Classic.....................
