kitty & I were up at Hallswood Animal Sanctuary today. Kitty found a Wood Pigeon down the end of our drive - it had been hit by a car. So, we took it up to Keith & Lyz, and they applied expert care on it straight away. Whilst we were there, Keith was telling us about a couple of other "casualties" that had been brought in by children over the past few months. To some people these might sound silly - but to me I think it's wonderful how some people have such compassion for living things. 1. Butterfly - A girl brought a butterfly to Hallswood that had lost it's pollen from it's wings and was unable to fly. Keith was able to apply some more pollen to the wings, and the butterfly flew off. 2. Snail - A snail was brought in, with a broken shell, and Keith was able to fix it with superglue! I find these amazing stories, and just goes to illustrate the sheer love and equanimity that Hallswood has for ANY animal - A real "sanctuary" if ever I saw one. They are wonderful people. Long may they continue!

That is lovely. I knew you could fix snails. We used to have some African land snails one of which had a broken shell at some point. We fed it lots of cuttlefish and it healed up. I didnt know you could fix butterflys. My twin boys have been mortified in the past treading on snails now they always move them off the path and find them somewhere safe to "live" and my oldest boy is my chief spider handler despite being bitten by one when he was younger!

Kitty & I were up at Hallswood yesterday. Their website is down at the moment, but will soon be undergoing a revamp, and should be up again fairly soon. I will let you know when it goes up, and you'll be able to check them out.
