Am thinking of looking for a greyhound in need of rehoming but I have an elderly cat who is fairly plucky. Fizz is fairly plucky but I do not want to upset her completely by getting her a 'friend' who hates her! Has anyone got any information on how greyhounds get on with cats - I am sure some must - but before I go any further and fall in love with one I need to get a bit more information. I know they make ideal pets but it is the cat thing that worries me!!! Any help gratefully received.

i adopted poppy a few months ago and was told she was cat friendly , but try telling my one cat . fudge my ginger boy is not a bit bothered by poppy and i have no problems at all but kitty who i adopted a couple of years ago will go no where near poppy as a matter of fact she has taken to living upstairs shes happy enough up there as she never goes out due to her previous experience with her first owner but it would be nice if she would share the rest of the house poppy did at first show interes in fudge and did on a few occasions chase but fudge gave her a smack and showed her who was boss , so make sure you explain you have a cat yor grey should be assest with cats before you get him and bear in mind the disposition of your cat i even though poppy and fudge seem okay together i would never leave them together when i go out and always make sure he has a safe place to get at all times i still have a lot of problems with poppy but i never regret getting her and know i have her trust things are getting better and better

Ive got book "retired greyhounds for dummies" there is a really good bit about introducing cats and greyhounds might be worth a trip to the library. My lurcher doesnt do cats AT ALL so I havent attempted to put it into practise but it was the most informative piece I had read on the topic  |

I have 2 greyhounds and was told I couldnt have a cat. But the minute I introduced my cat to them both he hit them on the nose as if to say "this is my house behave", and ever since they have all got on great, even cuddle up on bed together at night. Cats and greyhounds can get on. I had my brother staying with me for a while, he also has 2 cats, the dogs didnt take much interest in them. In the beginning I think they were more curious as to what they were  |
